Please correct me if something is not looking good!
Original game will be called OG.
DDLC New Heading mod will be called NH.
I’ll be comparing the mod to the original DDLC – without taking other mods and DDLC Plus into consideration. Unless stated otherwise. Take this into account.
So far, 4 acts are established in the story, but they can be expanded later.
The 1st act of NH repeats the 1st act of OG – except the original story is severely shortened here, for better pacing and to provide more room for the new parts of the story. You can call it “act 1 extended.”
So. The mod introduces a full day cycle – morning, afternoon, evening and night. The weeknds and holidays may have exceptions.
Mornings will be about MC and other characters getting ready for the school – but we won’t focus on the school stuff, it will be left merely as an exposition.
Afternoons will be focused on the literature club activities.
Evenings will be focused on characters spending time at entertainment events, hobbies and even multiplayer games.
Nights will be about MC having dreams. There can be nightmares, or psychedelic cringefest, or stuff that don’t make sense – the usual dreams for ya.
It is Wednesday, my dudes. Crossover? I think not!
Morning. MC leaves home to go to school and meets Sayori, his goofy childhood friend. Sayori complains about MC being obsessed with anime way too much, to the point of getting socially awkward. MC sees no reason to worry. Just a bit of bantering. “That was bantering. I am totally against bantering.” – Twelfth Doctor.
Then, school. MC fella got to choose a club to join, so he could prove to Sayori that he’s able to socialize properly! Ha-ha, get this, gal!! But where’s the anime club in the list? There’s no such thing. Pity. Here comes Sayori with the most boring suggestion imaginable – a literature club. Yawn, really, girl? Who would ever consider that seriously? “Welp, may give it a try, I guess. Not many options there anyway.”
But when MC visits that literature club, he’s stunned. It’s 4 girls preparing for a small tea party, if you could call it that. Sayori is there for a good look and goofiness, Yuri prepares tea and shyly rambles about books, Natsuki complains about “uninvited” guest but still prepares cupcakes, and Monika… welp, MC knows her, she happened to be his classmate in the recent past, and here she is a president of the literature club, in charge of the whole business.
Also, Monika happens to be one of the most popular people in the school, so she uses that influence to empower the underrated strength of poetry. So maybe, just maybe, lots of people will notice how actually beautiful literature can be. That’s the prime goal of the literature club. However, well, not the reason you play this game, am I right? 🚎 MC thought the same and, “sigh, guys, everything looks good and all, but I’m outta here, to see other clubs maybe.” But wait, what? Nobody likes this! Everyone pulled sad faces, except for Natsuki, she’s furious: that dumbass ate her cupcakes for damn nothing! MC couldn’t expect that reaction and, oh boy, he decided to stay – not to mention, the club needed to have at least 5 members, or else it gets closed and everyone gets thrown under the bus. So MC is… well, “chained” there until someone else arrives (if ever). Why would he leave though? Apparently, he’s got a sudden plan. He decides to write his way (through poems) into the heart of one of the girl members, maybe there’s a chance to date someone, you never know until you try. So that’s how ultimately the whole act 1 works, day by day the club members share poems they write, then it develops into something, especially when you as MC write a poem leaning towards the preferences of the specific club member. Boom, DDLC.
